In line with our vision “Passion for Progress”, we develop original products that enhance our range and keep pace with new customer requirements. This is how the K3300F continuous centrifugal from BMA evolved. The K3300F is available now.

It is based on our knowledge and on the operating principle of its predecessor model, the K3300. We have improved certain features, tailoring development and implementation to market and customer requirements. Efficiency, sustainability and resource saving are becoming increasingly important in applications for the sugar process. 

Continuous centrifugals from BMA: how it all began

While BMA developed its first continuous centrifugals back in the 1900s to 1920s, the use of these machines for sugar production did not become established until the 1950s. At that time, BMA launched its continuous centrifugals under the name “K series”.

A large number of patents and innovations have originated from the many models in the series. The new features have improved the sugar process and the separation of B product and C product across the globe, for both beet and cane. In fact, the very first centrifugal from BMA, the K750, demonstrated the superior efficiency of our separation principle, which involves creating a thin layer of massecuite in the basket. Positioning the massecuite feed pipe in the centre of the centrifugal has turned out to be another winning idea. 

Continuous centrifugals: innovation with a proven operating principle

The new K3300F centrifugal from BMA offers many benefits when it comes to efficiency and resource savings. The viscosity of the massecuite is lowered, which considerably simplifies the separation process. This in turn reduces energy consumption and achieves a throughput that meets process requirements. Processing of the massecuite thus starts before it enters the centrifugal. A steady flow of water vapour and water can be added via the feed pipe. They are combined with the massecuite in the product distributor and evenly distributed. As a result, less energy is used, optimising operation of the centrifugal. Since every product has its specific technological properties, BMA has developed three different product distributors: the A-product distributor, the standard distributor and the Turbo3 distributor.

One of the most energy-efficient centrifugals on the market

Like its predecessors, the K3300F has a basket with two separator stages, clearly identifiable by different angles. A standard basket with 14 °/30 ° angles is used for B and C product, a specially developed basket with 25 °/27 ° angles for the separation of A product. The molasses is discharged through elliptical openings. Thanks to the special basket design in combination with the nozzles, the crystals are evenly cleaned. 

The continuous centrifugal is driven by a 90-kW motor (105 kW at 60 Hz). With the excellent energy efficiency of this motor, which comes in a single size, and its many other assets, the K3300F is one of the most energy-efficient centrifugals on the market. 

New sensors for greater reliability

he new K3300F centrifugal offers innovative standard instrumentation, new-generation programmable logic controllers (PLC), and new control software features. Three sensors ensure smooth operation of the K3300F. 

The first sensor is a force gauge, which measures the tension of the V-belts and displays the reading. It thus helps to correctly adjust the V-belts. This ensures optimum force transmission by the V-belts and prevents extreme stress acting on the anti-friction bearings due to excessive belt tension. The other two sensors record the temperature of the anti-friction bearings and monitor their condition. If the temperature rises, the machine operator is notified and can arrange for an inspection before any damage occurs. 

Optimum plant operation thanks to improved design

The innovative design of the K3300F aims to improve maintenance and general operation of the centrifugal. An improved housing design minimises crystal deposits in the machine. Other features include an updated drive system and high-quality maintenance-free V-belts.  A further improvement concerns water washing. The centrifugal now uses needle valves, permitting more accurate dosing of the wash water. It also has a sampler for syrup and a new, ergonomic and user-friendly machine design. This makes all controls easily accessible for the machine operator, without the need to change position.

The K3300F comes with a new-generation PLC, a 9” touchscreen, anti-friction bearing temperature monitoring, and an intuitive control software. Options such as automatic wash water application and automatic lubrication ensure smooth running of the plant and make for easier centrifugal operation.
