Digitally minded

Centrifugals on the Internet of Things (IoT)

In the course of digitalisation, the availability and processing of machine operating data is becoming increasingly important. That is also true in the sugar industry. Here, the batch centrifugals are among the most dynamic machines in the production chain. Running at very high rotation speeds, they enable the separation of sugar crystals from the mother liquor. It is therefore good to keep an eye on the centrifugal operating data at all times, not only in terms of safety, but also for the sake of process continuity.

smart.monitoring – centrifugal data available any time, anywhere

We at BMA are convinced of the opportunities that digitalisation offers the sugar industry. So starting January 2019, all BMA-built batch centrifugals have an integrated interface to the BMA Cloud. This makes it possible to present important operating data as KPIs and trends – any time and anywhere in the world with a reliable internet connection.

The feature also includes remote access to a centrifugal dashboard with centrifugal basic data. With your personal login details, you will have 24/7/365 access to a preselected range of relevant operating data, presented on a digital dashboard in a clearly structured and condensed format. We call it Smart Monitoring.

smart.monitoring for centrifugals: How you benefit

  • More efficient centrifugals
Optimised throughput based on analyses running over extended periods of time.
  • Improved competitiveness
Better sugar quality based on KPI monitoring.
  • Operating data – available anytime, anywhere
Access operating data from anywhere and from almost any web-enabled device.

Security first

Our BMA cloud-based services relies on state-of-the-art encryption technology at all levels. Machine data are sent to the Microsoft Azure cloud via a secure connection. BMA is aware how sensitive the transmitted data are and we firmly believe in the security of the Microsoft cloud – so much so that we host our own data there, in fact! The machine data are processed in the cloud and made available to users via dashboards. To ensure these sensitive data are protected from unauthorised access by others, BMA relies on a tried-and-tested method: multi-factor authentication. This is used whenever security of access to sensitive data comes first, such as in online banking.

Data security

Data that have been transmitted to the cloud are made available to you via suitable dashboards. This means you can keep an eye on all major centrifugal data such as KPIs or trend developments, putting them at your fingertips wherever you are. To ensure these sensitive data are protected from unauthorised access by others, BMA relies on a tried-and-tested method: multi-factor authentication. This is used whenever security of access to sensitive data comes first, such as in online banking.

Steam power

A special drying system for sewage treatment

It takes up very little space, saves up to 95 percent of energy for drying, works fast and produces no smells: the drying of sewage sludge using superheated steam. Beet sugar factories have been relying on this technology for some time, but for sewage treatment plants, it is a new approach to sludge disposal and capacity extension.
