Enterprise 2.0/Digital Transformation working group meets at BMA

At the end of February 2017, the Enterprise 2.0/Digital Transformation working group of the German Engineering Federation (VDMA) met at the BMA offices in Braunschweig. Representatives from 11 German companies had come to share information and experiences, and to take away new ideas for approaches to the topic.

The working group was set up about four years ago. Soon afterwards, a guideline Enterprise 2.0/Digital Transformation was developed especially for VDMA members and meetings since have been held twice a year. The results of the collaboration are presented regularly at VDMA’s information events in Frankfurt.

Items on the agenda for this year’s first meeting included ways of introducing Enterprise 2.0 tools (community platforms) and opportunities for digitalisation in life cycle management. The key message of the event was that new digital technologies and processes can only be implemented in a sustainable way if they are accompanied by noticeable changes across all levels of the corporate culture in mechanical and plant engineering companies.
