After 26 years at BMA AG, Uwe Schwanke is taking his well-earned retirement

Uwe Schwanke, who for many years sat on the Board of Directors at BMA Braunschweigische Maschinenbauanstalt AG, has retired with effect from 31 October 2023. He will continue to support the company in an advisory capacity. Uwe Schwanke joined BMA in 1997 and has been instrumental in the company’s success and development. 

He started his career at BMA on 1 October 1997 as Sales Manager and was put in charge of Sales and Marketing in November 2000. In September 2008, Uwe Schwanke was appointed to the Board of Directors, where he was responsible for Engineering, Research & Development, Project Management and Sales & Marketing. Under his leadership, BMA successfully implemented many projects both in Germany and internationally. Examples are the construction of China’s first modern sugar refinery, a sugar factory in Egypt, and the development of BMA’s first digital product, smart.monitoring

Chairman of the Supervisory Board Dr. Manfred Puhlmann praised Uwe Schwanke’s work: “With his expert knowledge, valuable experience and unwavering commitment, Uwe Schwanke has rendered outstanding services to the sustainable development of BMA. It is largely his doing that BMA AG is today recognised as the globally leading supplier of machinery, plants and equipment for the sugar industry. We would like to thank him for his many years of successful service and wish him all the best for his retirement.” 

Dr. Arend Wittenberg, CEO of BMA AG since May 2023, has now taken on overall responsibility.
