Lower Saxony Foreign Trade Award for BMA

At the HANNOVER MESSE industrial trade fair yesterday, Braunschweig-based plant engineering experts for the sugar industry BMA were announced as winner of the Lower Saxony Foreign Trade Award. Olaf Lies, Minister for Economics, Labour and Transport in the state of Lower Saxony, extended congratulations to BMA’s CTO Uwe Schwanke.

The prize was awarded at the HANNOVER MESSE on 26 April 2017, during the 14th Lower Saxony Foreign Trade Day. It was the eighth time companies were rewarded for outstanding foreign trade results with this so-called “Export Oscar of the North”.

Each of the three nominees was initially presented to the audience in a brief interview. The award was then handed over by Minister Olaf Lies. The race for top position was said to have been very close. “We are thrilled to receive this award”, said Uwe Schwanke, BMA’s CTO. “It recognises our success in foreign trade over many years.”

BMA is Braunschweig’s oldest mechanical engineering company, with a 500-strong workforce in Lower Saxony and more than 150 employees at seven other sites across the globe. “We provide 95 percent of our services outside Germany”, explained Schwanke during the interview. This also permits BMA to maintain its strong and sustainable commitment in Braunschweig.
